In the Kitchen. November Poppins Book Nook Introduction.

To the Kitchen Preschool Theme

To the Kitchen is the theme of the month for the Poppins Book Nook, an awesome virtual book club that goes live the last Monday of each month. Please, check us back on November 24 to see what we did in our kitchen and explore cooking hands-on with the littlest ones. You can find our previous Poppins Book Nook books and activities here: http://www.mybrightfirefly.com/p/poppins-book-nook.html

This theme is all about kitchen and cooking for the holidays - exciting!
My Firefly's favorite books for the theme:

"Cows in the Kitchen" by June Crebbin. Fun rhymes!

"Wild Boars Cook" by Meg Rosoff and Sophie Blackall. A great book to talk about manners. Boars made the most beautiful Massive Pudding in the whole wide world, but their manners - oh!

Baking Preschool Activities

After reading these books, you will want to bake together with your little ones! The recipes are available in each book.
Have a happy family time together during the holiday season!

"Mr. Cookie Baker" by Monica Wellington. There is one sentence per page with the picture of Mr. Baker on the other side of a spread performing the task: easy to understand and very engaging for little ones.

"Little Red Hen" by Mary Finch.

"Cook-a-doodle-doo!" by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel. Rooster, a Little Red Hen's great grand son, had found his famous relative's cookbook "The Joy of Cooking Alone" and decided to cook a strawberry shortcake. An excellent team of Turtle, Iguana, and Pig support him all the way through this cooking adventure.

Soup for picky eaters

I picked up several soup related books in a hope to motivate my picky eater to taste different foods.

"Armadilly Chili" by Helen Ketteman. Miss Billie Armadilly is making her chili for dinner one cold night. She did everything right, but her chili just wasn't right - "it tasted flat as a Texas prairie". That is until her friends arrived to share a dinner together; and the cold night turned into the perfect sharing experience for them.

Pizza Preschool Activities

"Hi, Pizza Man!" by Virginia Walter. My Firefly loves this book - imagination at play. Would you like your pizza delivered by Pizza Kitty, Pizza Dinosaur, or anybody else?

"The Pizza That We Made" by Joan Holub. Fun rhymes!

"Pizza at Sally's" by Monica Wellington. Sally the pizza maker takes her readers through all the steps of pizza making: from the community garden to the table with great pictures and a couple of sentences per page.

"Curious George and the Pizza Party" by Margret and H.A. Rey's. Even a monkey can make a yummy pizza :)

  1. These books help children develop. This is very important for the further education. I wrote a term paper on this topic. One day I found a site www.bestessays.com and decided to order my work there. I didn't have time to do a few sections. And thanks to such services, I managed to do everything.
